Nitro cold brew coffee

Nitro Cold Brew Coffee Ingredients:

  • 1 cup coarsely ground coffee beans

  • 4 cups cold water

  • Liquid sweetener (optional)

  • Milk or cream (optional)

 

Equipment:

  • French press or large jar with an airtight lid

  • Nitro machine with Nitrogen (N2) tank OR Nitro dispenser

  • Serving glass

 

Method:

  1. Combine the coarsely ground coffee beans and cold water in a French press or large jar.

  2. Stir gently to ensure all the coffee grounds are saturated.

  3. Place the lid on the French press or jar and let it steep in the refrigerator for 12-24 hours.

  4. After steeping, press down the plunger on the French press or strain the coffee through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the grounds.

  5. Fill a glass with the cold brew coffee, leaving some space at the top for the nitrogen infusion.

  6. Attach the Nitro InfusionFizz machine OR Nitro dispenser to a Nitrogen (N2) tank and release the Nitrogen into the Bottle OR Dispenser to infuse the coffee with Nitrogen, creating a smooth and creamy texture with cascading bubbles.

  7. Let the coffee sit for a moment to allow the nitrogen bubbles to settle.

  8. If desired, sweeten the coffee with liquid sweetener and add milk or cream to taste.

  9. Serve the Nitro Cold Brew Coffee immediately and enjoy the rich and velvety texture created by the nitrogen infusion.


 

Science behind Nitrogen in Coffee: Nitrogen infusion in coffee, commonly known as nitro coffee, is a process that involves infusing cold brew coffee with nitrogen gas (N2). The addition of nitrogen creates a unique sensory experience and texture. When nitrogen is released into the coffee, it forms tiny bubbles that give the coffee a creamy and velvety mouthfeel.


Nitrogen is less soluble in liquid compared to carbon dioxide, which is typically used in carbonated beverages. As a result, nitrogen bubbles in the coffee are smaller and create a smoother texture without the sharp carbonation.


The nitrogen bubbles also give the coffee a cascading effect when poured, similar to a Guinness beer. This infusion process enhances the flavor profile of the coffee, making it smoother and less acidic. Nitro coffee is enjoyed for its rich and creamy texture, as well as its visually appealing presentation.
